Called the Amber Capital of the World, Gdańsk is the major shipping seaport and the most beautiful city along the Polish Baltic coast. It has everything from fascinating history and great architecture to a friendly atmosphere!
Also known as Danzig due to its complex past with periods of Polish, German and self-rule, the city is part of the Tricity urban area together with the port city of Gdynia and the popular spa town Sopot. It’s also a birthplace of the world-famous Solidarity movement, which helped to bring down Communist rule in Poland, initiating the end of the Cold War era.
Its charming buildings were rebuilt in a historical style after the city's near-complete destruction during World War II. You can admire the colorful townhouses of the Old Town by boat on the Motlawa River or by strolling down the popular Long Street and Long Market.
While in Gdańsk, make sure you visit the 15th-century St. Mary’s Church, the largest brick church in Europe, and make a wish at the Neptune Fountain, the city’s patron. While in town, try the legendary local Goldwasser liqueur with 22 karat gold flakes!
Whether you reach Gdańsk by train or plane, Booking.com has a variety of accommodations near the Lech Walesa Airport, the picturesque Old Town or the general city center.
Such a clean and beautiful city. We only stayed and looked at the main old town area plus the shipyards. Spent 2.5 days exploring on foot. Very flat easy walking. St Bridgit’s church is a must see with its incredible amber alter and St Mary’s stained glass and clim to the bell tower top was great too! 400 steps though so not for everyone.

Some lovely architecture and nice beaches at Sopot.
Some lovely architecture and nice beaches at Sopot. Gdynia was very disappointing. Most buildings in the old town are amber jewellery shops, currency exchange, restaurants, or coffee shops (which are nothing special). There isn't much else unless you go to a generic shopping centre. There are places of interest, monuments, museum etc but overall a little disappointing. Not as interesting as Warsaw or Krakow.

Nice old town to visite on a weekend.
Nice old town to visite on a weekend.
We strongly recommend that you also take a fast train to Sopot which is a lovely little sea town with a very large and beautiful bridge on the sea.
Children will probably love to go on a pirate boat trip but do it when it is warm otherwise you will freeze.
The Amber Museum in Gdansk is absolutely beautiful. Dont miss it.
Food was quite ok. There are restaurang everywhere.
People are very friendly.

There is not enough space to say all I want to here.
There is not enough space to say all I want to here. I love Gdansk and everything about it, and if you haven't been there, then WHY ON EARTH NOT?
Go there at once and DON'T just stick to the old town and Dluga street. These are really good, and I love them too (as I do everything). But there is so much more. Day trips galore, great parks, excellent walking, a huge variety of restaurants and cafes, the river, the many miles of wonderful smooth sandy beaches (and the water is NOT always so cold as you might think!)
Gdansk old town for architecture and history.
Gdansk Wrzeszcz for restaurants and cafes.
Gdansk Oliwa for the fabulous Park Oliwskie.
Sopot and Gdynia for additional fun!
Getting around couldn't be easier with trams and buses galore. Using Google Maps to help you, you'll be able to get everywhere.
OMG I totally LOVE THIS PLACE, and every time spent there is full of great things!

The city is very well structured and therefore it's almost impossible to get lost. The architecture is stunning - a mixture of Dutch and German styles gives it a unique look. Walking by the riverside is a beautiful experience, also the beach is not far, about 25 minutes by tram. Many great restaurants offer a wide variety of cuisines to satisfy everyone.

If you hold with the truth that there is no time like the past, then you cannot fail to like it. The Old Town is fascinating. For the first time in a long while, I was time travelling again. Not easy to find a restaurant which is vegetarian-friendly, but worth looking through the windows, first floor elevated or into the basement, at interiors that remind me of the years before WWII. I dined at Liberum, which is competitively priced and comfortable, and then stopped for a pint at a whacky vintage bar called, in English, 'Wardrobe'. I was in transit, so only in Gdansk for one night, but you'd be hard pushed to experience everything exhaustively even if you had a week at your disposal. If you don't go, you won't know!
The room is very spacious!
The bed is big and very comfortable.
They have AC 😊
The bathroom is big and clean.
Complete amenities.
Best of all is the location. Its right at the center of The Long Market. You can easily go back to the hotel when you got tired of going around. Eventhough it's at the center it's still very quiet. Very good soundproofing 😊
I love the room that i wished i stayed there longer. But will definitely stay there again when I come back someday 😊
Excellent location right across the street from train station. There is a tunnel under the street from the station to basically the front door of the hotel. Restaurants walkable as well as the Solidarity Museum, Old Town and shipyards. Would stay there again. Breakfast was good but at 15 euros seemed a little expensive for Poland. Kids eat free if I remember correctly. No noise from trains.
The location: The world war 2 museum is one of my favourite buildings, just to look at, and was about a 2 minute walk. 5 minute walk to the train station (which is the best and cheapest way to get to Sopot and Gdynia). 10 minute walk to the old town.
The apartment was fully equipped (iron and small board, hairdryer, fridge, washing machine etc.)
Plenty of electric sockets.
Perfect location. Especially, if you require to get early to the airport by bus or take a train. Famous shipyard is in walking distance and the Old Town (called Main Town here ;) ) is within 15 minutes walk. Even seaside with nice beach is accessible in 30 minutes by tram. Apartament is comfy with all you might need and host is very friendly. Recommended.
Location was super, in the old town by the river. Car parking in the street was free and we managed to find free parking space every time. Breakfast was among the best we've ever had in the hotel. Private sauna for free was a nice touch for relaxation. There were extra towels, slippers and drinking water for free near sauna.
To my money this is a great hotel nicely located close to both central railway station and old town. It’s clean, cozy, there’s AC in the room, a small fridge and a tv set. The reception lady was extremely lovely and helpful. I liked the breakfast, I ordered an omelette and it was freshly made and tasty.
The room was very spacious and clean. The hotel is located in the centrum of Gdańsk so it’s pretty convenient to reach the old town by foot within 2min. I totally recommend. The parking is located underground so for winter stay it’s convenient to keep the car there, however the parking is not free.
This hotel is located just outside the old city centre. It provides you the perfect spot to discover the city and wind down at the end of the day in the good hotel-restaurant or the hotel-spa. I really recommend staying in this hotel if you visit Gdansk for business or leisure.
Excellent breakfast - there was everything (absolutely awesome choice of hot/cold meals, vegetable, fruits, yogurts, desserts etc.).
Restaurant&bar in the hotel building.
Location - easy to walk to the city centre (15 min),calm area.
Entry to the spa included in the room price.
The location was very good and quiet. There are many shops to offer, restaurants, cafe, pharmacy, supermarket and hair dresser nearby.
For the value of the money, the hotel is good. It is also half an hour to the airport by taxi and walking distance to old town center.
The location is great, nearby the main streets of Old town. The hotel has a SPA with limited access, thus, not too many people visiting at the same time and facilities are nice. Comfortable for a short stay, quiet rooms with everything you might need.
We liked everything,.Very good place near the old town, near the railway station from where you can easily reach Sopot.Very nice hotel, nice staff, clean.Very good breakfast. The spa is perfect, can be used from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. unlimited.
Nice staff, comfortable bed, spacious closet, kitchen was equipped enough. The place had fun activities, like playstation, gym. Good wifi. Walking distance to the Old town. Great food places around the hotel. All in all, good place.
Been here before, and can highly recommend. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Beautiful rooms. The hotel is close to the old town with plenty of restaurants nearby. An Uber takes you in less than 30 minutes to the airport.
This hotel is great! The building has been renovated to a very high standard, while retaining lots of the original features. The location is close to the Old Town and to the river, so it's perfect. Highly recommend!
This was a friendly hotel for our first night of a short stay in Poland. It is easily accessible from Gdansk Airport and is within striking distance of the old town and the main railway station.
Nicely decorated and well maintained hotel surrounded by woods and next to a small lake. Only 15-20 minutes drive to Sopot or Gdansk city centre. Lots of space in the room and very big bathroom.
Located right in the center of old town, perfect location to explore the beautiful surroundings. The hotel is fantastic, facilitates & breakfast were fabulous.
