Easy to find and check into. Plenty of communication from the owners about the process. Very good value for money, comfortable room. Close to many restaurants in town and Alnwick Castle just behind it. Free parking close by.
Featuring free WiFi and a terrace, The Cookie Jar (Alnwick) was formerly the Convent of Mercy, and is just 0.2 miles from the center of Alnwick.

Words really fail me to explain how special this property was. The attention to every single detail was exquisite. I’m a professional organizer. My business is details. I’ve never seen anything like this. Everything - even the lights on the floor that automatically come on when you walk into the bathroom - was planned perfectly when this former convent was remodeled to make a sacred space for all its guests. There was even framed sheet music in the halls to, I assume, pay homage to the beautiful music that must’ve once graced the hallways.
The staff was so warm and welcoming. The breakfast buffet was like something out of a Veranda magazine spread. The breakfast was delicious.
At every turn in the hotel and the room itself, we were met with a delightful and unexpected experience.
Who puts this much thought into a public space? The Cookie Jar does. You made our once-in-a-lifetime trip unforgettable.

The castle and gardens at Alnwick are well worth a visit, for a special treat on a Sunday book a table for the Treehouse restaurant in the Alnwick Garden, we had the Sunday lunch, two of us had the beef and one of us had the lamb, it was the best Sunday lunch that we have had in a long time, we were very lucky as it was fairly quiet, but I would imagine that it gets very busy in the Summer with the fine weather.

Alnwick Castle - and Gardens - and both very impressive and the castles interiors are amazing. It is close to the wonderful Northumberland coast which, although it can be a little cold, on the fine days which we had were brilliant, especially around Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh Castles and up to Lindisfarne/Holy Island as well as the Farne Islands. There were major roadworks in the town centre of Alnwick when we visited but think these will complete in next few days. We did not visit Alnwick itself, just drove through.

Alnwick is a good place to visit and is an ideal base for exploring the area.
There are a number of good restaurants and cafes.
Alnwick Castle is worth a visit, but don’t bother with Alnwick Gardens as they are small and over priced.

This was our first visit to Alnwick and we've fallen in love! There were so many intriguing and characterful shops to explore and we were spoilt for choice for lovely places to eat. We would whole heartedly recommend eating a SherKhan - some of the best curry we've ever had - and also The Adam and Eve.
Dirty Bottles is a fab venue, great for a drink but would skip the very averge food next time.

Alnwick is the perfect place to base yourself when exploring the many castles , fishing towns and ancient relics of Britain found in Northumbria and the Borders
Alnwick itself caters for almost every sort of special
Interest with the castle itself and its gardens being the crown in the jewel .
Plenty of outdoor activities , historical places to visit , one of the countrys best bookshop and restaurants and pubs for all tastes .
One of the best towns in the UK by far .
Very spacious, comfortable and peaceful, in spite of being in the centre of Alnwick. Although the building itself is very old inside it was very warm and welcoming with thoughtful touches which made it a very happy and relaxing place to stay. The view of Alnwick Castle from the bedroom was great. Excellent location for castle and gardens and for visiting other parts of Northumberland. Plenty of food shops and places to eat too. There are free car parks up behind Morrisons, but have to move car every 24 hours so had to remember.
A modern building on a small industrial estate just off the A1, with petrol pump, MacDonalds, etc nearby. It was very easy to get from the hotel to Alnwick Castle and Gardens. We had a large, comfortable room on the ground floor with a great comfy bed. Even though the hotel is next to the A1, we did not hear any traffic noise. Twice we had a tasty evening meal, with draught beer. There is a good grassy area for walking the dog.
Brilliant place to stay. One of the most comfortable, well equipped, clean places we have ever stayed. Everything we needed was there, as a person who likes to cook I was thrilled with the kitchen. So often you go to holiday lets and the knives are blunt and the pans sparse, but the equipment here was better than mine at home! If we’d stayed longer we would have had a go with the omelette and toastie makers.
The friendliest welcome from a perfect gent. Couldn't be more attentive. Room was lovely size to the front of the property. Comfortable and clean room. All the little details, fantastic, even an umbrella in the room. They seem to have considered everything for their visitors.
Breakfast was to a very high standard. Taking personal preferences into account.
Great place to stay, a traditional B&B.
I found this to be a good base for a walking the Northumberland Coast Path, with bus stops within a few minutes’ walk and just 15 minutes’ walk to the centre of Alnwick with its bus station. My hotel room was clean and very comfortable, with an ample supply of toiletries. The food in the restaurant was very good. All the staff were friendly and helpful.
A really comfortable lodge, which was ideal for our short stay in Northumberland. A nice touch to have a pint of milk in the fridge and a few tea bags/sugar/coffee. Everything had been thought about.
Location-wise, we made the most of being in Alnwick and so close to the castle. Free parking is close by, as mentioned by others.
The apartment was spacious, clean, and overall a generally great place to stay for our short trip.
Convenient location too, as the shops and sightseeing opportunities around Alnwick and Northumberland, weren't far away at all. The host was helpful and onhand for any enquires too.
The room here was very clean, bed was very large and comfy and it was quiet. Check in was very easy. We ate dinner and breakfast at the Plough Hotel. It was very good and everyone there was great. Will stay here for sure if we’re ever in the area.
The property is centrally located in Alnwick close to restaurants, cafes ,shops and the castle. Free parking is available nearby. This was our second visit to the Bondgate and is our preferred choice for accommodation in the town.
friendly staff, very nice rooms (loved the colour of the walls and the "medieval style" poster of Northumberland) with view of the castle, and great location as at just short walking distance from every main attraction of the city
self catering apartment with everything you need for your stay. Great location and central for Alnwick castle, Resturants and shops. easy for visiting Northumberland. Comfortable bed, sofas and quality furnishings.
A very friendly hotel. Helpful staff. Good breakfast. Perfect for disabled people too with a lift and wide door. An automatic door would be the icing on the cake as so many doors to get through for the driver!
Warm comfy spacious room with great en suite - bed super comfy! Food on site excellent and great value. Staff on duty were fab - very accommodating and friendly. Great base to explore Northumberland from
A simple base at the top of the hill north east of Alnwick, the Shepherd's Rest Inn is a good base for Northumberland walking, castles and coast. The room was clean and the breakfast good.
Good location near the amazing Barter Books and Alnwick Gardens. The house is an old fashioned B&B with quirky decor. Extensive breakfast options prepared by a friendly hostess.
Gorgeous cottage in a great location. Easy parking on-road and walkable into Alnwick. Great base for everything around you, and everything you need for a comfortable stay.
