Cute place for a day trip, or a one night stay. If you travel off season, know that the boats are only operating during the weekend. No need to spend a lot of time here, you can see most sights in a few hours. Nevertheless, a beautiful city with an impressive historical center!

From the moment we decided to stay at Temari Oitoma Inn and booked our stay there the process was seamless. So, we were off to a good start and our good luck continued. The inn was close to Bikan Historical District, less than a 10” minute walk and there were many good restaurants and shops in the same area. There are many fun and interesting things to see and do in Kurashiki and we could have stayed there another couple of days. We would go back in a heartbeat!

Super cute city.
Super cute city. You can stay half day, but fyi the station near the old center it's 1h away from Shinkansen stations. If you arrive (very) early go book a boat trip along the canal at the turist center

Kurashiki was a major disappointment, a Disney-fied "historic" town that has sold its soul to tourism - restaurants offering the same dismal fare, trinket shops, soft ice cream outlets galore and mobs of tourists lined up outside same. You can walk it all in about two hours, including your break for ice cream. Put on a straw hat and take a ride along the 200-meter long "canal" to "partake of the history". Yawn.
Definitely not worth the time when Japan has so many much better places to visit.

Kurashiki is a small town that immerses you in very authentic local life. With cute shops, an old centre and nice temple park. And if you like, a big mall and supermarket. I needed some relaxing in a smaller city and Kurashiki was just what I needed!

The main attraction here is the Bikan Kurashiki Historical Quarter. The area is nicely restored and preserved, now used as cafes, eateries, museums, and shops (tourists). It is a cozy, safe, and pleasant environment to walk around. IMHO, this is a good hang-out place for a weekend getaway. Travel a bit south to Washuzan for a stunning hilltop view of Seto Ohashi Bridge and the beautiful port town of Kojima.
The location is conveniently located across from a large shopping center with a supermarket, which made it easy to stock up on food and drinks, and about 1.5 kilometers from Kurashiki historic district. We arrived by car, but the apartment is also close to the station if you are arriving by train. The main reason we rented the unit, though, was to take advantage of the washer/drier halfway through our trip.
We stayed in the family room, 4 adults, a little cozy when the futons are laid out, lol. We had both the dinner and breakfast set and both meals were delightful. We would never have thought to order meals like that on our own. The servers presented the dishes beautifully. They were pleasant and efficient. The staff were very kind. The Ryokan was beautiful and serene. A perfectly enjoyable stay !
This new, clean, well-located hotel was a terrific value. It's only a couple minutes from the train station, so it's easy to find. It's a very short walk to the Bikan Historical district, but also surrounded by convenience stores, shopping, and many restaurants. The rooms were clean, well thought out, and very reasonably priced. Really a terrific find.
- This is a serviced apartment, not a hotel
- Well-located close to the touristic center but in a quiet street
- Self check-in, no hassle, no interaction with staffs
- Big room with two double beds, and a living area
- Kitchen equipped with stove, sink, microwave, dishes, pans and cutlery
- Modern apartment, everything automated and digital
The staff was super kind and nice to me ! The food at the bar was delicious, the cocktails also ! The room was very spacious and comfortable, the showers and toilets were clean. The breakfast was perfect !
I really recommend this hostel if you're staying at Kurashiki, the kindness of the staff just makes the difference.
I did like the lights in all over into the room and outside and the theme design is in the details. The bed is the Most Nicely i also check the brand because i feel is soo comfortable!
I feel all time that is a nice quality Hotel . Of course enjoy the Hot Bath, the sauna and nice amenities.
It was small but very cozy and well equipped. The customer service Ms.Aya was very helpful and replied our issues quickly. Would definitely recommend anyone who come to Kurashiki to stay in here. It was right across from the Mitsui outlet also a big supermarket in Ario shopping mall.
Rooms are modern and extremely comfortable, if small. The moderate twin was difficult to have 2 suitcases open at once. The hotel is in a great location for exploring Kurashiki old town and taking day trip to Okayama. Restaurant offers traditional Japanese cuisine which is very tasty.
The staff is lovely! The hotel gives a feeling of home! The rooms are pampering - spacious and very clean. We sleep 3 people in the room. The location is very convenient, really close to the station and really close to everything you want to see in the area.
Everything was perfect! We truly felt at home and looked after. The hotel is in a great location between the old town, station and the outlet/shopping centre. They have the most wonderful team working there and we loved the attention to detail in everything.
The location is perfect, between the station and the Kurashiki old town area. This business hotel has all the amenities you need for a quiet one-person stay including onsen on-site. The room had a nice view over the city as well. I would stay here again.
Well maintained accommodation. Good location within a 10 minute walk to historical Bikan quarters, 5 minutes to a mini mart and about 20 minutes walk to Kurashiki train station. Clear and easy instructions for check in and check out at accomodation.
Great location! Nice clean quiet room. I appreciated the onsite public bath. In the heart of the Bikan historical district so it is easy to walk everywhere you want to go. Walk from the main train station was 20 minutes or about 10 by bus.
Onsen is pretty and free noodles were delicious. The location to old town Kurashiki is fantastic. Just across the street. Was really nice for going out to dinner and walking around at night and in the morning. Beautiful area.
